Since I quit my job in march 2007 I have been out of work and looking for employment. I wanted to get out of the whole consumer call centre thing,see after 6 years it begins to take it’s toll on you after awhile. Plus I wasn’t going anywhere in that job.

Fast Forward to this year, at the beginning even when this so called credit crunch came in I have applied for more jobs that I did the previous year. Also I managed to secure employment and it’s a job I will like.

The battle is won but the war is far from over. I do not want to be in this position ever again where I can’t get a job. So now that I will getting a paycheck every month I’m going to get some more certifications in addiction I’m starting an online degree as well. One of the problems I had is because I have the experience but I don’t have the qualifications.

Now brings me back to my art,well the positive side is that I can now afford art supplies it just that it won’t come out as fast as I would like since I will be working and studying. However I do have a Second Life art project I’m working on which will come out this year I’m not going to say too much at this stage as I’m still planning it.

As long as I am organised, plan my time and achieve my set goals I think will be OK

Never Give Up No Matter What

That phrase helped me when I was at rock bottom looking for work.

Drawing…..
The one thing I really hated going through high school was the fact that my drawing wasn’t up to scratch. In my Art and Design/Technology subjects my drawing was ok but it wasn’t epic. One regret I have in my life is not sticking with Art in GCSE because in that you could learn to draw better. On my quest to peruse my art from Second Life into Real Life I have signed on to do a course offered by the Tate to learn some artists’ Techniques and Methods. The last time I did any sort of serious art work like painting or drawing was high school so now I can add some more skills to my set.

Drawing is one of the things I would love to improve upon and lucky for me the first course is Gaudier-Brzeska’s Drawing Techniques YAY. So far I am enjoying it I still need a bit more practice but I will get there. The course  gives you an insight into Vorticism which I am beginning to learn more about .

Painting for me is how my northern brethren say “a piece of piss”

It’s the New Year and now is the time everyone sets their resolutions or goals for this year. I have a long list of them but I will let you in a handful of them.

Blog more – hahahahaha this should be good since I rarely blog after I say to myself I’m going to blog more and never do. But this year should be different as this relates to the second resolution on this list

Start commenting on other peoples blog – This is something a friend of mine said I should do more and he is right. I am a very quiet person, more of a reader/listener and I need to start chipping in my two cents more. When it comes to my friend’s blogs I should definitely comment more to show my support in what they are saying.

Podcast – I have being putting this off for too long I have always wanted to do a regular podcast(and keep doing them) so I need to get off my arse and start recording them weekly. There is stuff I would rather talk about than just write a blog entry plus I would love to have a few guests and shoot the shit with them.

Create some Real Life Artwork – Currently doing that my art supplies arrived, just need to find the time to do it.

So there you go I may break a few of these, who knows but I only made one resolution last year and it was to give up smoking and I did it.

Arthole Radio is pleased to announce that the first ever voice interview with elusive Second Life artist AM Radio will broadcast as part of The Amy Freelunch Hour this Wednesday, November 26th (details below). The interview was recorded after the two met in person last week, over breakfast.

In Amy Freelunch’s words: “I was honoured – and shocked, actually – that AM agreed to meet up with me and to record an interview. In person, I found him to be deeply thoughtful and articulate, more than I even expected – and I had pretty high expectations! He has much to contribute to the art community through his ideas and words, all of which makes me very excited to share this conversation with you.” Freelunch is in the process of creating an archive of recorded conversations with Second Life artists; this talk with AM Radio is the first in that series. Next week (December 3rd) her show will feature a conversation with writer Cyrus Huffhines (known in RL as Bryan Campen), who produced the virtual installation for 77 Million Paintings by Brian Eno. Huffhines speaks about a build he is currently working on, recreating his childhood home from which he and his family – including his bi-polar father – were evicted when the artist was an adolescent. In real life, Amy Freelunch (aka Amy Wilson) is an artist and college professor of art, art history, and critical studies at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Formally a regular contributor to Brooklyn is Watching, Freelunch joined Arthole Radio shortly after its launch in September 2008. She writes about Second Life art and culture in her blog see-through – amyfreelunch.wordpress.com.

Arthole Radio was launched by Arahan Claveau and Nebulosus Severine as a way to promote their collaborative Second Life gallery and the SL art scene in general. The channel airs live every Wednesday:

Who is Shadowjack?

Shadowjack is a music project created by Shane Semler (a.k.a. Ehdward Spengler) His main influences are Industrial/Coldwave and Doom/Stoner Metal. Throw in some Shoegazer, Trip-Hop and Goth. He is now recording tracks for a new album tentatively titled “The Fall of Man/Groovfuct.”

He is a skilled producer and has produced two albums for The Dark Aeons, a Psychedelic-Goth-Eletro-Metal project he and his brother collaborated on for several years and one album for Industrial Metal act Chaotica. He has remixed tracks for such artists as gODHEAD, 3d House of Beef and Unwoman and has contributed a track to the Abney Park tribute/remix album “Twisted & Broken.”
